There are places that are satisfactory. There are places that are pleasant. Then, there are places which seem, from the very first moment, to have got hold of the right end of the stick. Club Med Kiroro Peak is one of those.
Set among the snowy calm of Hokkaido, Club Med Kiroro Peak is perfectly positioned for ski lovers. In just a few steps, you are at the foot of the slopes, ready to explore more than 20 kilometres of runs. These runs suit all abilities. The snow here is known for its exceptional quality: light, dry, and deep. Each descent has an effortless grace. Access from New Chitose Airport is straightforward. Direct transfers make arrival and departure simple. One feels at once looked after and entirely free. You step out into air so crisp it might have been polished overnight. Before long, you are gliding through powder that seems less like snow and more like a kindly arrangement made specially for your enjoyment.
The whole place is run with that rare sort of competence which never needs to announce itself. Everything simply works. The rooms are comfortable in the way rooms ought to be. They range from cozy Superior Rooms with serene mountain views to expansive Suites with spacious sitting areas. The amenities include heated ski-gear storage, plush bedding, and large soaking tubs. These are perfect for warming up after a day outside. There are also family rooms that easily accommodate groups. Clever layouts offer privacy and ample space for everyone to unwind.
The food is abundant and cheering after a day in the cold. Guests are spoiled for choice at the main restaurant, Yoichi. It offers generous buffet spreads featuring international cuisine as well as Asian and Japanese specialties. Breakfasts include fresh pastries and local fruit. Dinners might feature Hokkaido seafood, steaming ramen, or grilled meats prepared to order. Those seeking something more intimate can book an evening at The Ogon, the resort’s specialty restaurant. It offers a set menu celebrating Hokkaido flavours, from salmon sashimi to warming nabe hotpot. The lounge serves as a lively hub for coffee, après-ski snacks, and inventive cocktails.
The atmosphere is lively without ever becoming exhausting. One has the sense throughout that an enormous amount of thought has gone into making life easy. That is a luxury more valuable than many grander things.
The staff, too, deserve every praise. They are warm, capable, and have that invaluable talent for making hospitality seem natural rather than performed. Nothing feels forced, yet everything feels attended to. As newcomers, we were immediately guided through the ski rental process, with staff ensuring our equipment was perfectly suited to our needs and abilities. The daily ski lessons, offered for all levels, were conducted with skill, patience, and a sense of fun, helping both beginners and seasoned skiers feel confident on the slopes. Off the mountain, a lively program of entertainment and activities fills the evenings, including live music, shows, group games, and cultural workshops. Special mention goes to Martine in the ski shop, whose knowledge and attentiveness made every gear fitting easy, and to Loic, the Entertainment Director, who brought the resort community to life each night with enthusiasm. While the staff were predominantly young, Martine and Loic stood out as pillars of the team's energy and dedication.
We were sceptical about the all-inclusive resort. However, this place is amazing and offers incredible value for money for precisely this reason. The all-inclusive package covers virtually everything. It includes all meals, gourmet buffets, specialty dining, snacks and drinks throughout the day. Daily lift passes grant full access to the slopes. Group ski and snowboard lessons suit all skill levels. The use of the resort's wellness facilities, like the sauna and hot tub, is also included. Evening entertainment and activities are part of the package, which is standard feature of Club Med, these are a highlight! Equipment rentals, airport transfers, and even childcare options are included. There are very few unexpected extras. Our holiday cost three times as much as our last skiing trip to Japan. Still, with all these essentials provided, we found the experience genuinely hassle-free and well worth it. Club Med, a special thank you.
Club Med Kiroro Peak understands that a mountain holiday should not be a struggle in disguise. It should be joyful, restorative, and a bit exhilarating. Here, it is exactly that. You arrive expecting a good ski holiday and leave wondering how ordinary resorts manage to be so ordinary.
