Had a great time at Club Med Phuket. Stayed 15 nights, 10 of us, family & friends, ranging from 14 years old to 92. Returning after a successful visit last October.
Patrizio, the current CDV, creates a warm, genuine and welcoming environment for all nationalities. The resort is on Kata Beach, a very beautiful & long sandy beach with great sunsets.
We noticed that the shows had even more spectacular costumes (well done to Lucas!). Lucas absolutely loves his role as costume and stage designer - do attend his backstage tour. I would attribute the focus and obvious enjoyment that Patrizio has to this.
Most shows incorporate the Circus/Trapeze team led by the very competent Abi. They were constantly refining and improving the acts, even though we watched the shows at least twice, they were always tweaking them. You have to see Beatrice spinning from her head!
Tip: Watching the show: bring a fan as there is no air conditioning, wear ear plugs if you have sensitivity to loud sounds, and try the view from the upstairs balcony for the great views of the circus acts.
Sound Healing is very popular so arrive early (max 25 people) and please SWITCH OFF your phones. Only suitable for guests who can lie still on their backs for an hour. The very talented and hard working Ari takes the Sound Healing and also the very fun Aqua Yoga. Ari is a qualified yoga teacher but has now joined the land sports team, so if you attend any of his classes you are in safe hands as he gives clear instructions. He also performs in most of the shows!
Another very over-subscribed activity is the snorkelling in the national park off Chalong Bay, which is provided free. Run by PK, who manages the challenging guests well. Book as soon as you arrive. For safety, you have to do the swim test and bring your passport to get access to Chalong Bay. It’s a half day trip - coach transfer, tuktuk and then boat.
Tip: It’s not a boat ride, so book an excursion if you just want a boat ride. Bring your own snorkelling gear to get the best experience. Be aware that you will only be notified if the boat trip is going ahead on the morning at around 7:30am. For safety reasons, the weather has to be ideal for the trip to go ahead.
We were very grateful to Sanjai (Reception Manager) for arranging for us to be booked together in P block (we did book 4 months in advance). Our rooms were newly refurbished, large, bright with good lighting options and plenty of storage, helpful as we were staying for 15 nights. We had double sinks, a large balcony with 2 sunloungers, chair & coffee table. Plenty of powerpoints which were international, taking 3 pin and 2 pin.
Housekeeping was excellent, thanks to Aoy, Housekeeping Manager - who has been there for years! The only challenge we had between all 5 rooms was that none of us could set a comfortable air conditioning temperature. We would set it but it must reset daily! We also got used to the lukewarm showers. The mirrors in the bathroom were large and well lit.
We enjoyed taking part in the Kahoot quiz run by Prince, Animation Manager. Very happy to spend time with Prince.
There are 4 short chipping holes and a putting green, and they provide clubs and balls.
The massages at the spa are good, very well run by Sophie, who also appears in the shows in the evening, & lovely Kan. We like firm massages from Kai & Emma. There is a jacuzzi and steam room you can use just before your treatment.
The craft sessions such as bracelet making are very popular and busy. Zadine manages really well despite running low on resources!
Thank you to all the bar staff, Saiparn, Yumi, Benz, who work very hard from 9am to late evening. David was very good at remembering our special drinks and thank you for making my oat latte in the morning.
Thank you to Azizul & Costas, Yew for looking after our dining room arrangements to accommodate our elderly father. Eating at the main dining restaurant is perfect for all of us, offering a wide range of freshly made international dishes.
We did eat at the Chedu restaurant, which has an upmarket vibe but a very inflexible, restricted menu. It was nice to be served for once!
Thank you to the trapeze team, Abi, Chloe, Victoria, Beatrice and others in the team, for helping my brother build up to a complicated planche(?) catch.
Thank you to Luisa & Emilio in the boutique, Dilya for managing our arrivals and departures and queries.
Thanks to Jasmine & Paul at Excursions. We really enjoyed our Elephant Sanctuary visit, very recommended, great to learn how the elephants are rehabilitated.
Also thank you to Jina, Etienne, Avi, Jen, Emre (wall climbing), Vishark, Anna, Sherriff for your company at lunch and dinner.
