Cherating Beach Malaysia

We had a truly memorable family holiday at Club Med Cherating! From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless: warm smiles, smooth check-in, and a breathtaking location surrounded by nature.

What really stood out was how much my kids (all four of them!) enjoyed the trip. The Mini Club activities kept them engaged, entertained, and happy every single day. They made friends, tried new things, and came back each evening bubbling with excitement to tell us their stories. As parents, nothing beats seeing your children so joyful and well taken care of.

The staff deserve a special mention: attentive, kind, and always ready with a smile. The food selection was excellent with something for everyone, and the variety kept mealtime exciting. My wife especially enjoyed the food, every meal was a treat for her. We also loved the mix of relaxation and activities available for the whole family, whether it was lounging by the beach, trying out sports, or joining in the evening shows.

Club Med Cherating gave us the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and family bonding. We left with wonderful memories and the kids are already asking when we can come back. Highly recommended for families looking for an all-inclusive getaway where both parents and children feel looked after.

I absolutely loved my stay at Club Med Cherating! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience unforgettable.

I tried the Flying Trapeze and Bobby and his team were amazing, they were patient, encouraging and reassuring throughout the activity. I also joined a Tennis lesson with Bryan, who was fun and energetic (and a great DJ too 🤣). The Sailing and Kayak team were equally kind and patient in their guidance.

Both night events were fantastic! Malaysian Night was full of culture, and the lion dance was one of the best I’ve ever seen. I love the calligraphy and diabolon event!

The “Circus Show” was truly unforgettable, hard to believe the performers were the resort team! Their effort, talent and passion were admirable!!

I also loved how warm and genuine everyone was. Even Charo from the bar made all drinks enjoyable.

My stay at Club Med was overall a truly pleasant and memorable experience. The warm welcome upon arrival, friendly staff, and wide range of activities made it a relaxing escape. The beautiful surroundings and lively entertainment created a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

The food selection was generally good with many international options, and my room was comfortable a nice place to unwind after a full day of activities.

Private Dinner
One of the highlights of my trip was the private dinner. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavour. I absolutely loved it, and that experience really stood out and made the evening special.

Cooking Class
The cooking class was another memorable part of my stay. I forgot his name, but the chef a big Chinese guy with glasses was fantastic. He wasn’t just skilled but also engaging, patient, and warm. He added a special touch to the session, making it fun, interactive, and easy to follow. It felt more like a shared experience than just a cooking demo, and it left a really good impression on me.

Special Shoutouts
• Indra, or as I fondly called him “Abang,” was the highlight of my bar experience. He made great drinks, always fulfilled my custom requests with a big smile, and never failed to make me laugh with his jokes.
• Nazmi, my favourite GO, felt like a newly discovered buddy during the trip. He was incredibly kind and attentive, guided me through several sports I had never tried before, and made sure I felt included and comfortable. He also checked in on me throughout my stay and even brought me a cream from the dispensary to treat my mosquito bites.
• Shin from Mutiara Restaurant was also wonderful. She was attentive and observant. I accidentally dropped one of my cutlery pieces, and even though she was already exiting the room, she turned back just to offer me a new set. That small gesture showed genuine care and excellent service.

Booking & Room Access
I initially booked 3 nights, then made a new booking online for the remaining nights because it was more cost-effective and I was hoping to get a room closer to the main facilities. When I checked with the reception, I was informed the resort was fully booked, so a room change wasn’t possible, which I completely understood.

However, I was also told there was no need to do anything with my room key. Later that day, when I returned to my room, I couldn’t access it because the key had been deactivated as it was treated as my check-out day. This caused unnecessary inconvenience. Thankfully, I had the contact number of a staff member, Nesh, who kindly came to assist me with a new key. While I appreciated his help, this situation could have been avoided with better coordination at the front desk.

Housekeeping
This was the most disappointing part of my stay. On my third day, I personally asked the housekeeping lady to change the bed linen, but she only gave an excuse that her colleague hadn’t brought the new sheets, and nothing was done after that. The bed linen was never changed for the rest of my stay.

Additionally, the floor mat was taken away and never replaced, so I ended up using another towel as a floor mat. The towels were also never changed, only because I said “no need” on the first day. By the third day, I had to personally call the reception to request fresh towels. For a resort of this standard, I expected much better housekeeping service and follow-up.

Food
As a Malaysian, I was looking forward to tasting the local dishes. Unfortunately, the Malay food was rather bland and didn’t reflect the rich and flavorful taste of authentic Malaysian cuisine. I also found the fruit section inconsistent, some days the slices were cut just right, but on other days they were so big they could cover half my palm. It wasn’t a serious issue, but it definitely made me laugh.

Cleanliness at Mutiara Restaurant (Room 2)
When I went for a late lunch at Room 2, there were many flies around. It was uncomfortable and not up to the cleanliness standards expected of a resort of this level.

The welcome briefing did not include any information about assembly points, which I believe is important for guest safety.

Overall
I genuinely enjoyed my stay thanks to the friendly team, the relaxing environment, the delicious private dinner steak, the enjoyable cooking class, and the personal touch from staff like “Abang” Indra, Nazmi, Nesh, and Shin, who made me feel welcomed and cared for.

Having worked in the hospitality industry myself, I understand what proper service standards should look like. While many things were done well, there were also areas that clearly need improvement, especially housekeeping, front desk coordination, and consistency in service. With better attention to these details, this resort has the potential to truly deliver a five-star guest experience.

The food is good and delicious.
The room is clean.
A good place to relax.
If you’re driving, you should drop off your luggage at the reception first before proceeding to the car park.

Very interesting and quiet place
Clean rooms and area and sufficient facilities, only our group got a room far from the center and restaurant. No transportation provided from the center to the room.
