What is the climate like in Martinique?
Martinique has a tropical climate. It is even referred to as a humid subtropical climate. As you might expect, the island's temperatures are very pleasant. The heat is moderate and constant all year round. It is between 28° and 30°C in both summer and winter. This moderate heat is due to the presence of the ocean.
Martinique is also very humid. It is thanks to this that the island boasts a lush natural environment and breathtaking landscapes. Indeed, Martinique's vegetation is also tropical. The landscapes are verdant, and the flowers are colorful.
If you want to spend your next holiday hiking and discovering new panoramas, Martinique is the destination for you!
Thanks to its tropical climate, the island's temperatures remain warm all year round. If you're wondering when to go to Martinique, we'd advise you to opt for the month of September rather than the traditional July/August.
In fact, during our summer, Martinique experiences its rainy season. Although the Caribbean Island remains wonderful at this time of year, it is the least favorable because of the frequency of its rainfall.

When should you go to Martinique if you're thirsty for culture?
Martinique is the perfect destination if you're looking for a bit of sunshine in winter, but also to experience the local culture.
You can visit the Antilles from December to April, because the weather is mild, but also because there are plenty of cultural events to choose from. In December, for example, you can enjoy the Jazz Festival or the famous Chanté Nwel.
Every year, Martinique hosts a huge carnival. Depending on the year, it takes place in February or March. This major event in the Lesser Antilles brings together thousands of people. Parades are organised for the occasion, and all participants are invited to wear costumes.
Finally, even if it rains during your stay, you'll always find an excursion to do or a site to discover.
In Fort-de-France, for example, you can visit the Musée d'Archéologie et de Préhistoire de la Martinique, or the Musée régional d'Histoire et d'Ethnographie, or visit Saint-Louis Cathedral and enjoy a traditional meal.

During your stay, whether the sun is shining or not, you can climb Mount Pelée. At 1,397 metres, this volcano is Martinique's highest point. The last eruption was in 1932, but the most memorable was in 1902, when the village of Saint-Pierre was destroyed. This natural site offers a number of paths to the summit for a panoramic view of the island paradise.
The Jardin de Balata is another must-see. Here you'll discover over 3,000 species of plants and a traditional Creole house.
Is the sun shining? Head to Plage des Salines or the Caravelle peninsula for a relaxing end to the day by the sea!
