WHEN ARE WE GOING TO THAILAND TO CELEBRATE BUDDHIST NEW YEAR?

If you have an opportunity to go to Thailand during the Buddhist New Year season in April, you will have the opportunity to attend one of the most important festivals in the country, which is organized from 13 - 15 April 2020 every year.

During the festival, temples are covered with colourful offerings and the water with rose and jasmine petals, a ritual to ward off bad luck. Water also becomes a playful element, as many adults and children engage in water battles, sometimes involving hundreds of people. A custom that reflects the mentality of the Thai people: celebrate the rites, but always with humour and lightness.

In the Cruises of Patong (on Puket Island), you can observe the parade of trucks filled with water reserves happily watering the passers-by, and especially the policemen! A piece of advice: leave your cameras and other sensitive equipment aside that day, as you might well be among the wet ones...

In the evening, let yourself be tempted by one of the most famous animations of the city, the muay-thai, or thai boxing. Matches are regularly held and you can even see boxing trucks driving around the city promoting their event: an immersive and adrenaline-filled experience.
